Terms of Service

1. Operator & Scope

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of VERITAS Engine and all associated services, tools, and features available at veritas-engine.com (collectively the "Service"). The Service is operated by:

By creating an account or using the Service in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

VERITAS Engine is an AI content detection platform that uses multi-signal forensic analysis techniques to assess whether images, audio, video, and text were generated or manipulated by artificial intelligence. The Service applies rigorous technical methods including frequency analysis, metadata inspection, generator attribution, and neural pattern recognition.

The Service is currently provided in beta. Features, pricing, and availability may change at any time.

3. Eligibility & Account

  • You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 years old if required by applicable law in your country) to use the Service.
  • You may only register one account per person. Sharing accounts is not permitted.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without prior notice.

4. Credits

Access to detection tools is governed by a credit system. Credits are consumed when a scan is performed.

4.1 Free Tier

Every registered account receives 3 credits per month at no charge. Free monthly credits reset at the start of each calendar month. Unused free credits do not roll over to the following month.

4.2 Pro Subscription

The Pro subscription ($7.99/month) grants 130 credits per month and is billed on a recurring monthly basis via Stripe. Monthly Pro credits reset at the start of each billing cycle. Unused monthly Pro credits expire at the end of the billing period and do not roll over.

The subscription renews automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time via the dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period - access to Pro features continues until then. No prorated refunds are issued for the remaining portion of a billing period.

4.3 One-Time Credit Top-Up Packs

Credits may also be purchased as one-time top-up packs:

  • Starter: 20 credits - $1.99
  • Standard: 60 credits - $4.99
  • Pro Pack: 150 credits - $9.99
  • Bulk: 400 credits - $24.99

Top-up credits never expire and stack on top of your monthly credit balance. Top-up credits are consumed before monthly credits.

4.4 Credit Costs per Tool

  • Image scan: 1 credit (+ 1 credit for deepfake check add-on)
  • Audio scan (voice or music): 2 credits
  • Video scan: variable, approximately 1 credit per 5 seconds of analyzed footage
  • Text scan: variable, based on word count of the submitted text

Credit costs are displayed before each scan is confirmed. We reserve the right to adjust credit costs with reasonable prior notice.

5. Payments & Refunds

  • All payments are processed securely by Stripe, Inc. By making a purchase, you also agree to Stripe's terms of service.
  • All prices are in US Dollars (USD).
  • Top-up credit packs are digital goods that are delivered immediately upon payment. As such, they are generally non-refundable once purchased, except where required by applicable law.
  • Subscription payments are non-refundable for periods already billed. If a technical error on our part prevented you from using the Service, please contact us at contact@veritas-engine.com and we will review your case individually.
  • EU consumers may have a right of withdrawal (Widerrufsrecht) under applicable consumer protection law. However, by initiating a scan you expressly consent to the immediate performance of the digital service, and thereby acknowledge that the right of withdrawal lapses upon consumption of the credits for that scan.

6. Your Uploaded Content

  • Uploaded files (images, audio, video) and submitted text are processed in memory only for the purpose of performing the requested detection.
  • We do not permanently store your uploaded files or submitted text on our servers.
  • We transmit your content to a third-party AI analysis API (Optic, Inc. / AI or Not) solely to perform the analysis. That provider does not permanently store submitted content or use it for training purposes, in accordance with their terms of service as of the date of these Terms.
  • We do store scan metadata (tool used, verdict, timestamp, credits consumed) in your account for your scan history. You retain full rights to your content.
  • By submitting content, you grant us a limited, temporary, non-exclusive license to process it solely for the purpose of providing the detection result.

7. Detection Results & Accuracy

VERITAS Engine applies forensic analysis techniques to detect AI-generated content. Detection results represent probabilistic assessments based on available signals at the time of analysis. While we apply rigorous multi-signal analysis, no automated detection system achieves 100% accuracy - false positives and false negatives can occur.

Results should not be solely relied upon for legal proceedings, formal professional determinations, journalistic publications, or other high-stakes decisions without independent verification. We are not liable for any decisions made based solely on the results provided by the Service.

During the beta period, results may be less reliable than in the final release. We make no guarantees as to the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of detection results.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to generate, validate, spread, or defend AI-generated disinformation or deepfakes
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, circumvent, or manipulate the detection system
  • Automate requests to the Service beyond normal human use without our prior written permission
  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable German, EU, or local law
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
  • Resell or redistribute detection results or access to the Service without our written consent

We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations and take appropriate action, including account suspension and referral to authorities.

9. Intellectual Property

  • The VERITAS Engine name, logo, interface design, and underlying technology are owned by Udo Gryt and may not be reproduced or used without permission.
  • You retain all ownership rights to content you upload or submit.
  • Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights from us to you or vice versa, except for the limited processing license described in Section 6.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

  • The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
  • Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the total amount you have paid to us in the three months preceding the claim.
  • We are not liable for outages, errors, or data loss caused by third-party services including Stripe, Supabase, Vercel, or the AI or Not API.

11. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may update these Terms, credit costs, or pricing at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notification with reasonable advance notice. Continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time, including during the beta period, without liability.

12. Account Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time via the dashboard or by contacting us.
  • Upon account deletion, all remaining top-up credits are forfeited and are not refundable.
  • We may terminate or suspend your account for violations of these Terms without refund of unused credits.

13. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding its conflict of law provisions. The courts of Germany shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising from these Terms, subject to mandatory consumer protection rights that may apply in your country of residence.

EU consumers may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obligated to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
